林映辰 Lucy Ying-Chen, Lin

畢業於美國路易斯安納州紐奧良大學(The University of New Orleans)爵士演奏研究所(Master of Jazz Studies Degree Program);是國內首位自紐奧良留學歸國的爵士演奏家。
現為日本柳澤(Yanagisawa)薩克斯風台灣地區合作藝術家。2016年曾獲選為新北市文化局「樂壇新星」。2024年入選美國國務院教育和文化事務局支持的跨國文化音樂交流計畫OneBeatTaiwan。
在美國紐奧良期間,主修爵士薩克斯風,師事Edward “Sweetbread” Petersen;自修爵士豎笛。並跟隨Irvin Mayfield、Victor “Red” Akins III、Stephen Masakowski、Brian Seeger、Mett Perrine和Ricky Sebastian學習作曲、編曲、爵士理論和樂團合奏。曾和Preservation Hall小號手Mark Braud、鋼琴手Butch Thompson、斑鳩琴手Dan Vappie和世界知名管風琴手Dr. Lonnie Smith同台演出。並於2013年12月在Irvin Mayfield’s Playhouse舉辦作品發表會。
回國後著重於教育推廣,演出及教學足跡遍步北中南,並透過舉辦互動式的「導聆式音樂會」,以紐奧良爵士樂團或小型爵士樂團的編制,在樂曲中間穿插適當的講解與示範,使聽眾輕易地了解爵士樂的音樂特色及發展過程,讓聽眾更能增加參與感,進而達到推廣的目的。
近年亦跨足編曲、作曲及音樂策劃。2023年入圍狂美交響管樂團「台灣新聲」管樂作曲大賽決賽。2022年擔任國家表演藝術圖書館X綠藤生機「爵士療心室」音樂策劃。同年,參與維克音樂「風動」跨國錄音計畫,同時擔任作曲家。2024年國家表演藝術圖書館女性作曲家音樂策劃。
除定期舉辦音樂會外,演出邀約單位包含台中國家歌劇院、高雄流行音樂中心、消基會、各縣市藝文中心、白晝之夜、台中爵士音樂節、嘉義管樂節、台南國際音樂節等大型活動。
於爵士樂的教育推廣不遺餘力,並歸納出「爵士素養」的重要性,透過深入淺出的教學方式引導學生演奏或欣賞爵士樂,而深受喜愛。現為King Cake紐奧良爵士樂團領班,新北市新泰國中藝術深耕計畫駐校藝術家暨爵士大樂團指揮,師大附中音樂班、國際學校Canadian Independent Micro School爵士樂指導老師、Taipei Metropolis Jazz Orchestra指揮。

Exploring the Fluidity Between Tradition and Freedom—Expanding the Boundaries of Music
Lucy Ying-Chen Lin holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance from the University of New Orleans and is the first Taiwanese musician to study jazz in its birthplace and return to Taiwan. She is currently a Taiwan artist representative for Yanagisawa Saxophones. In 2024, she was selected as a musician for OneBeat Taiwan, a transnational cultural exchange program supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. That same year, she launched the all-female composition performance project "Girls' Melody" and the saxophone and modular synthesizer project "Soundscape: TANDEM." In 2016, she was recognized as a "Rising Star of the Music Scene" by the New Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs.
In recent years, Lucy has expanded into arranging, composing, and music curation. She was one of the curators for the "Resonance: Feminine Power from Classical to Experimental" project at the National Performing Arts Library in 2024, focusing on female composers. In 2023, she was a finalist in the "Taiwan New Voices" Wind Band Composition Competition hosted by the Con Bello Symphonic Band. In 2022, she curated the "Jazz Healing Room" project for the National Performing Arts Library in collaboration with Greenvines and also participated in the "Wind Moves" international recording project by Vic Music as a composer.
Beyond regularly organizing concerts, she has been invited to perform at prestigious venues and events such as the National Taichung Theater, Kaohsiung Music Center, Consumers' Foundation, Chinese Taipei, various cultural centers across Taiwan, Nuit Blanche Taipei, Taipei East District Autumn Jazz Festival, Taichung Jazz Festival, Chiayi City International Band Festival, and Tainan International Music Festival.
Passionate about jazz education, Lucy emphasizes the importance of "Jazz Literacy" and is known for her engaging and accessible teaching approach, making jazz performance and appreciation more approachable for students. She is the bandleader of the King Cake New Orleans Jazz Band, an artist-in-residence and jazz big band conductor for the Xin Tai Junior High School Arts Education Program, a jazz instructor at The Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University, Canadian Independent Micro School, and the conductor of the Taipei Metropolis Jazz Orchestra.
